A student has a sample of small metal wires. Determining the density of a large number of randomly shaped objects using geometry is difficult. No one wants to measure 1000 different pieces of wire individually to determine their length and radius. Instead we use a method called displacement. A graduated cylinder containing 20.0 mL of water has an easy to determine volume. If we add the metal wires to the graduated cylinder the water level will rise. The volume of the water the metal wires is also something easy to record, for example 42.5 mL. What is the volume of the sample of metal wires
