suppose the narrow-sense heritability (h2) of flowering date has been estimated to be 0.4. In 2014, the mean flowering date was 60 days. However, 2014 was a wet year with very high survival, so larger, later-flowering plants produced more flowers on average than smaller, early-flowering plants. Therefore, the seeds and pollen came from parents that flowered after an average of 80 days. Assuming year-to-year differences in the environment do not affect flowering date, what would be the expected mean flowering date of the offspring? (Just put in the number of days -- no units.)
