Multiply eq (i) by 3

-6x-18y= -42 (iii)

-6x-2y= -26 (ii)

Subtract eq (iii) from ii

-6x -18y = -42

+6x+2y = +26

0 - 16y = -16

●y= 1

Put y =1 in eq 1

-2x -6 (1) = -14

-2x = -14 + 6

-2x = -8

●x =4

x=4 y=1
