Hi so first we need to find a common denominator three goes into 18 six times because 3×6 is 18 and 18 is a denominator you need because you need the same denominator so now since we got 18 is our common denominator you got a time‘s the top by whatever number you times that by to get that common denominator so for the first one you have 18 and you times by one so 9×1 is nine so you have 9/18 and then for your second fraction times 3 x 6 to get 18 so above your three is one on that fraction so you’re gonna do 1×6 and you get 6/18 if you add those two fractions you get 15/18 if you simplify that by dividing both by three you get 5/6!
