To get from Richard’s house to Makenzie’s house, Richard can ride his bike 3.75 miles south, along the sidewalk, then turn west and ride 9 miles. When it isn’t too muddy, Richard can also ride directly across the park to her house. How much farther does Richard have to ride if he chooses to go around the park?
