Hello! i am doing my homework and was hoping if someone could double check! june had 16 m& ms on her desk. she made two equal groups of m& ms and another group with 4 m& ms. how many m& ms were in one identical groups? i got confused what the equation would be

There were 6 m&ms in one of the identical groups. The equation would be 2x + 4=16

So first of all, you need to subtract the 4 m&ms from the 16 in order to be able after to divide the m&ms left in equal groups!

16 - 4 = 12

You then have 12 m&ms to make two equal groups, which means you need to divide 12 by two!

12 ÷ 2 = 6

So there you have it, you have a group of 4 m&ms as well as two equal groups of 6 m&ms each! ☻
