Determine the percentage of boys and the percentage of girls in the club.
For an instance, pb stands for percentage of boys, and pg stands for percentage of girls.
pb + pg = 100%

There are 5% more boys, pb = pg + 5%
Input to the previous equation to find the percentage of the girls
pb + pg = 100%
pg + 5% + pg = 100%
2pg + 5% = 100%
2pg = 100% - 5%
2pg = 95%
divide each side by 2
pg = 47.5%

Substitute the percentage of girls to either equations to find the percentage of the boys
pb = pg + 5%
pb = 47.5% + 5%
pb = 52.5%

Find the number of the boys and the girls
The boys
b = pb × total members
b = 52.5% × 246
b = 0.525 × 246
b = 129.15
Because the number of people couldn't be a fraction, round to the nearest whole number
b = 129

The girls
g = total - b
g = 246 - 129
g = 117

There are 129 of boys, and 117 of girls
