To compare 1/8 and 5/8, you will compare each separately to 1/2 (4/8).

1/8 < 1/2(4/8)

5/8 > 1/2 (4/8)

1/8 < 5/8

By comparing each fraction to 1/2, you will then be able to compare the two fractions.
