Translating is moving the shape without changing size nor rotating.

The 2 or x value represents the left/ right movement, in this case, choose a point of the vertices and move it 2 times to the right.

-4 or y value represents up/down movement and in this case, move that same point you moved twice over- 4 down. Now you can use the original shape to figure out the rest of the points or vertices of the new shape.
