Aplot of land is shown in the diagram. it consists of a right triangle, rectangle, and semi-circle. if the owner wants to fence in the land, how much fencing does he need?

Now, we're assuming the owner is going to put a fence "around" it, namely the two vertical lines in the middle will not be included in the fence, just the outside borders.

well, the straight lines you can pretty much see how long they're off the grid, let's find the slanted line and the curved one.

the slanted line is part of a right-triangle with sides of 2, so the hypotenuse will just be 



and the curve, well that's just a semicircle, whose diameter is 2, and therefore its radius is half that, or 1.



so, add the slanted line, the semicircle's line and the other three horizontal lines and that's the length of the perimeter of the plot and therefore the length of the fencing.
