"You don't care!" he shouted. You don't care anything about me!"
I placed my hand on his shoulder. Slowly. Gently.
Instantly, he shrugged off my hand. Once again, his eyes glared at me. How dare you touch me? His eyes shouted. You
don't care!
His arms flailed in the air before sliding down to the hard floor. Leaning his head down between his knees, the boy hid his
face. Perhaps, in an attempt to escape from his existence.
I moved closer. Slowly. Gently. Sitting next to him, I reached out my arms. I could feel wetness on his shirt as I held him. I
was certain he would push me away once again. But to my surprise, he didn't. I held tighter. Together, we rocked back and
forth. We moved to the rhythm of his breathing, fast at first, but then slow. Silence surrounded us. We breathed in the
quietness until it was all still again. Calm
He lifted his head and looked at me with his big brown eyes. Wetness clung to his thick eyelashes, clumping them together
His eyes spoke to me again. This time, his eyes said, help me!
