Now, Initially butter is in solid state when took out from refrigerator. When we kept it at room temperature for a longer period. The inter-molecular bond between its atom becomes less and but its still in solid state. When we spread the butter on the bread it acquire the shape of the bread. Now when eaten it is converted into smaller size.

Thus, the state of butter changes from solid to liquid and its shape changes from rectangular block to a sheet then into smaller pieces.
