Asteam turbine operates with the following inlet conditions: 3000 kpa and 800°c and 10 m/sec. steam exits the turbine at 100 kpa, 80% quality and 22 m/sec. an inventor claims to have fabricated an adiabatic turbine with these inlet and outlet conditions and wants you to invest your hard earned money in his/her company a) how would you evaluate this claim? will you invest in this company? explain. b) the inventor then states that he/she made a mistake and that the turbine isn't in fact adiabatic and that there is heat lost or gained from the surroundings. could you calculate the amount of this heat transfer in kws per kg/s of steam flowing through the turbine assuming the stated exit condition of 80% quality steam is correct? c) and finally the inventor states that the turbine operates with the surrounding temperature at 300 k. does the device in part (b) now violate the second law?
