(a) water is peculiar in that near its freezing point, the density of the solid is less than that of the liquid; these densities are 920 kg/m' and 1000 kg/m respectively. sea water at the same temperature is denser (1025 kg/m) because of the salt content. what fraction of an iceberg (assume here the pure ice density) is above the surface when it is in sea water? carry at least three significant figures in your answer 2 for parts b and c: an ideal fluid flows from left to right ina pipe which has a constriction in it (figure at right). on the upstream side of the constriction, the pipe has cross-sectional area 4, = 0.1 m2, and the fluid has density ρ,-900 kg m-3. and flows with velocity vi = 0.04 ms. downstream of the constriction the pipe has cross-sectional area 0.01 m2, the fluid has density ρ,-1200 kg m-3. and velocity v. (n. b.: on the exam, part (c) was worth three times as much as part (b), and together they made 20 of the 85 points possible.) (b) strictly from the equation of continuity, what is v? (c) the pressure in the fluid on the upstream side of the pipe is p, and the pressure in the fluid on the downstream side of the pipe is p2. the pipe is straight and the ends are at the same height (you should assume h = 0 here: why? ) use bernoulli's equation to find the difference in pressure between the two sides. work out the units explicitly. make sure to state clearly which side has the higher pressure. you will need the answer from part (b) for this part of the problem. if you couldn't get that, assume v1.0 ms that's not the right answer, but you can make progress with this part of the problem with it if need be

Tafari worked one summer on a ship that set weather buoys in the ocean. he watched how one of the buoys moved in the water. describe which parts of the wave would cause the buoy to bob up and down. which wave property determined how fast the buoys bobbed in the water? he observed that when the wind blew harder, the ocean waves were larger, and the buoys moved away from the ship. what effect, if any, did the waves have on how far the buoys moved? explain your answer.
