Explain how tidal forces are causing earth to slow down.

The tidal forces exerted by the moon are directly associated with the earth's rotation. Due to the strong gravitational pull of the moon, the tidal bulging appears on both the sides on earth and these are region of high tide, and there is gradual rise and fall of sea level.

Because of these tidal effect, the earth is able to rotate only once in each of the orbital period.

as we know our atmosphere or air have different levels. every level has other gasses, and every gas has another permeability. when the light comes from lower permeability to higher permeability, it changes its direction. so that means that when the light comes from the moon to the earth, it changes it's direction many more times. it basically means that the shape of the light part of the moon is changed on the earth.
