Can a car that has only been traveling at different speeds in a straight line east have accelerated north?

We all know speed is distance covered in unit time, whereas acceleration is rate of change of speed.

Explanation:

A car that has been traveling at different speed is already accelerating.Now suppose if it is traveling at different speeds means some force is applied to that car.It is traveling in a straight line in east and traveling at different speed, which means the speed keeps on changing so sometimes it can be possible that acceleration can also be in the opposite direction to that in which it is traveling, so here it can be in west. As it is an easterly course of travel direction so no north or south direction movement.
