here v is the velocity on the surface of lake , u is the initial  downward velocity .

The initial downwards velocity is 0 in both the cases . If Alice has some horizontal velocity , it will not effect the downward motion .

Thus v = for both .

Thus velocity on the surface of lake will be same for both .

i just did an experiment like this in my science class. also the answer is yes, it will get separated because they are two opposites meaning if they are opposite they can not attract.
