An air-conditioning system involves the mixing of cold air and warm outdoor air before the mixture is routed to the conditioned room in steady operation. Cold air enters the mixing chamber at 7°C and 105 kPa at a rate of 0.55 m3/s while warm air enters at 34°C and 105 kPa. The air leaves the room at 24°C. The ratio of the mass flow rates of the hot to cold airstreams is 1.6. Using variable specific heats, determine (a) the mixture temperature at the inlet of the room and (b) the rate of heat gain of the room.

Agroup of students were investigating the force of gravity. they began by dropping a foam ball from a height of 3 meters into a bucket of sand. the ball hit the sand in 0.306 seconds. they dropped additional balls of approximately the same diameter, but of different masses. here is the data they collected. based on this experiment and the collected data, what would their conclusion be?

8.29 two streams containing pyridine and acetic acid at 25°c are mixed and fed into a heat exchanger. due to the heat-of-mixing effect, it is desired to reduce the temperature after mixing to 25°c using a stream of chilled ethylene glycol as indicated in the diagram. calculate the mass flow rate of ethylene glycol needed. the heat capacity of ethylene glycol at these conditions is approximately 2.8 kj/(kg k), and the enthalpy change of mixing (δmixh) is given below.
