A 5 m3 tank containing 5kg of an unknown ideal gas at 500 kPa is connected through a valve to another tank containing 10 kg of the same gas at 200 kPa. The two tanks have thermal equilibrium with the ambient environment. After the valve has been opened, the tanks again reach thermal equilibrium with their ambient environment. What is the a) total volume, b) total mass, and c) pressure of the gas in the two tanks

Large electric fields in cell membranes cause ions to move through the cell wall. the field strength in a typical membrane is 1.0 x 10 7 n/c. what is the magnitude of the force on a calcium ion with charge +e? what is its acceleration? is it possible for a particle with the same charge as as calcium to have a different acceleration if placed at this location? what would change the acceleration: mass of the particle? diameter of the particle?

Two charged particles, q1 and q2, are located on the x-axis, with q1 at the origin and q2 initially at x1 = 12.2 mm. in this configuration, q1 exerts a repulsive force of 2.62 µn on q2. particle q2 is then moved to x2 = 18.0 mm. what is the force (magnitude and direction) that q2 exerts on q1 at this new location? (give the magnitude in µn.)
