A thin, hollow tube with cross-sectional area 2 cm2 and length 20 cm has a 22 g mass at the bottom. It is dropped into a volume of water and comes to a rest in a vertical position. a. If you move the bobber up or down, it will experience a force that returns it to its equilibrium position like a spring. What is the effective spring constant (in N/m) created by the weight and buoyant force?
b. What is the natural frequency at which the bobber will bob in rad/s? Answer is 1.95, and 9.88 respectively. Please explain.
