6. A plane due to fly from Montreal to Edmonton required refueling. Because the fuel gauge on the aircraft was not working, a mechanic used a dipstick to determine that 7682 L of fuel were left on the plane. The plane required 22,300 kg of fuel to make the trip. In order to determine the volume of fuel required during the refueling, the pilot asked for the density of the fuel so he could convert a volume of fuel to a mass of fuel. The mechanic provided a factor of 1.77. Assuming that this factor was in metric units (kg/L), the pilot calculated the volume to be added as 4916 L. This volume of fuel was added and the plane subsequently ran out of fuel, but landed safely by gliding into Gimli Airport near Winnipeg. The error arose because the factor 1.77 was in units of pounds per liter (lbs/L). How many liters of fuel should have been added

Two horizontal plates with infinite length and width are separated by a distance h in the z direction. the bottom plate is moving at a velocity u. the incompressible fluid trapped between the plates is moving in the positive x-direction with the bottom plate. align gravity with positive z. assume that the flow is fully-developed and laminar. if the systems operates at steady state and the pressure gradient in x-direction can be ignored, do the following: 1. sketch your system 2. identify the coordinate system to be used. 3. show your coordinates and origin point on the sketch. list all your assumptions. 5. apply the continuity equation to your system. nts of navier stokes equations of choice to your system 7. solve the resulting differential equation to obtain the velocity profile within the system make sure to list your boundary conditions. check units of velocity 8. describe the velocity profile you obtain using engineering terminology. sketch that on the same sketch you provided in (1). 9. obtain the equation that describes the volumetric flow rate in the system. check the units.

Tafari worked one summer on a ship that set weather buoys in the ocean. he watched how one of the buoys moved in the water. describe which parts of the wave would cause the buoy to bob up and down. which wave property determined how fast the buoys bobbed in the water? he observed that when the wind blew harder, the ocean waves were larger, and the buoys moved away from the ship. what effect, if any, did the waves have on how far the buoys moved? explain your answer.
