A train travels between stations 1 and 2, as shown in the figure. The engineer of the train is instructed to start from rest at station 1 and accelerate uniformly between points Aand B, then coast with a uniform velocity be-tween points B and C, and finally decelerateuniformly between points C and D until thetrain stops at station 2. The distances AB, BC, and CD are all equal, and it takes 5.22min to travel between the two stations. As-sume that the uniform accelerations have thesame magnitude, even when they are oppositein direction. What amount of time does the train spend between AB, BC, and CD?

At a certain instant after jumping from the airplane a, a skydiver b is in the position shown and has reached a terminal (constant) speed vb = 52 m/s. the airplane has the same constant speed va = 52 m/s, and after a period of level flight is just beginning to follow the circular path shown of radius ρa = 2330 m. (a) determine the velocity and acceleration of the airplane relative to the skydiver. (b) determine the time rate of change of the speed vr of the airplane and the radius of curvature ρr of its path, both as observed by the nonrotating skydiver.
