A student slipped on ice last week. While on the ground after the fall, she began to wonder how different surfaces could have changed the outcome. She thought back
to when she learned that acceleration results from unbalanced forces acting on an
object. What if the ground had salt on it, or gravel? How would the acceleration
change in those cases? Would she have even fallen? You have been tasked with
creating an experiment to determine the effect of friction on the movement of an
object of a given mass. You can utilize a gizmo lab called Fan Cart Physics to help create your research
question, hypothesis, independent variable, dependent variable and constants.

Independent Variable: (1)
