Facilitated diffusion and active transport both utilize proteins to transport substances across membranes. Differences between active transport and facilitated diffusion 1. Active transport requires an input of energy, usually ATP, while facilitated transport does not.

this allows people to make the best decision or pursue the best option. when alternatives are weighed using their advantages and disadvantages, the option whose disadvantages outweigh the advantages (based on a qualitative or quantitative analysis) are shunned while those whose advantages outweigh their disadvantages are pursued.  

when insulating materials rub against each other, they may become electrically charged . electrons , which are negatively charged, may be 'rubbed off' one material and on to the other. the material that gains electrons becomes negatively charged. the material that loses electrons is left with a positive charge.
