A scuba diver releases a 3.60 cm-diameter (spherical) bubble of air from a depth of 14.0 m. Assume the temperature of the air bubble is constant at 298 K and that the air behaves as an ideal gas.
(a) How large is the bubble when it reaches the surface?
(b) Sketch a PV diagram for the process.
(c) Apply the first law of thermodynamics to the bubble, and find the work done by the air in rising to the surface, the change in its internal energy, and the heat added or removed from the air in the bubble as it rises. Assume every 10 m of depth in water is equivalent to 1 atm of pressure.

Arigid tank is divided into two equal parts by a partition. one part of the tank contains 3 kg of compressed liquid water at 400 kpa and 60°c while the other part is evacuated. the partition is now removed, and the water expands to fill the entire tank. determine the entropy change of water during this process, if the final pressure in the tank is 40 kpa. use steam tables.
