As you know, the Sun is a big Star, using helium for its combustion. So of course, one day, this Helium will end, and the sun will burn-out. Scientists says that in about 5 billion years, the Sun will turn in a red giant star, expands, and start to consume the planets around her, the Earth included, before turning into a White dwarf star, cool for a trillion years, and disappear.

The Sun is one of the thousands of stars that exist in the Universe.

At the beginning, stars are luminous spheres of plasma that maintain their shape by their own gravity.

Stars are born when there is a gravitational collapse of a gas nebula composed mostly of hydrogen. They are nothing but the conversion of hydrogen into helium in a permanent thermonuclear fusion. When this phenomenon occurs, the energy released crosses the star itself and radiates outward. This is the phase in which the Sun is now, and in which it will remain for the next 5 billion years.

When after billions of years all the hydrogen fuel and later the helium has been exhausted, the star passes to the "giant red" stage. Here the star begins to contract, raising its temperature and increasing its core. It is when heavier elements are formed. When the star ends with all the new fuels generated, it comes to an end.

That is when they begin to shed layers, as they can not keep them together for longer. It is when they are called "planetary nebula". The center adopts the name "white dwarf". They can take on the size of a planet and continue to shine for an indeterminate time. After this stage comes its final stretch becoming "black dwarf" or "dead star". According to the researchers, it is the last stage expected of the Sun, the brightest star.
