Exercise (Step 1) Take out a sheet of paper. Have a writing utensil handy. Set a timer for fifteen minutes and hit start. Now reflect on each time in your life that you have had the opportunity to give to someone (this could be giving your time, money, a listening ear, etc.). Focus on the times that you have given to your friends and family. Write down all specific instances as they come to mind until the timer stops. Reflection (Step 2) Take a close look at the times that you have given of yourself. How did you feel when you were giving? Human services workers give of themselves on a daily basis. Many of the qualities behind the actions of giving on your list reflect the qualities of human services workers. What qualities do you think make a good human services worker? Application (Step 3) What do you like about your friends? Write down ten good qualities that you see in other people. After you have written these, make a check mark next to the qualities that you have in common with others. List three things that you can do on a daily basis for the greater good of humanity. Develop a reasonable plan of action to carry out these things. Make a commitment to do something nice for someone (for one week) without telling him, her, or anyone else what you are doing. Accept no recognition. Visual Aid (Step 4) Make a small chart to monitor your progress. Include whether or not you were able to keep to yourself the good deeds that you have been performing. Be creative. PLS HELP
