Wyle E. Coyote sees his potential dinner, the Road Runner, running along a straight flat road at a constant velocity of 45.0 m/s. At the precise moment the Road Runner passes him, Wyle E.
ignites his rocket powered roller skates and begins his pursuit, starting from rest. The rocket
skates provide a constant acceleration of 11.0 m/s 2 and have enough fuel to burn for 5.00 s
after which Wyle E. will continue skating at a constant velocity (they are special ACME
frictionless rocket skates). Assume that Wyle. E. is able to draw even with the Road Runner (be
right next to him) after which he deploys his ACME bird net in which he becomes inextricably
tangled and the pursuit ends. Determine the following:
A. What is Wyle E. Coyote’s maximum velocity?
B. How much time does the pursuit take?
C. How far has Wyle E. travelled down the road from his starting position?

Two kilograms of air within a piston–cylinder assembly executes a carnot power cycle with maximum and minimum temperatures of 800 k and 300 k, respectively. the heat transfer to the air during the isothermal expansion is 60 kj. at the end of the isothermal expansion the volume is 0.4 m3. assume the ideal gas model for the air. determine the thermal efficiency, the volume at the beginning of the isothermal expansion, in m3, and the work during the adiabatic expansion, in kj.

Ahair dryer is basically a duct in which a few layers of electric resistors are placed. a small fan pulls the air in and forces it through the resistors where it is heated. air enters a 1200 w hair dryer at 100 kpa and 22°c and leaves at 47°c. the cross-sectional area of the hair dryer at the exit is 60 cm2. neglecting the power consumed by the fan and the heat losses through the walls of the hair dryer, determine (a) the volume flow rate of air at the inlet and (b) the velocity of the air at the exit.
