A spring-loaded toy gun projects a 5.0 g nerf pellet horizontally. The spring constant is 8.5 N/m, the barrel of the gun is 12 cm long, and a constant frictional force of 0.029 N exists between the barrel and the nerf pellet. If the spring is compressed 5.5 cm for this launch, determine the speed (in m/s) of the pellet as it leaves the barrel. (Assume the pellet is in contact with the barrel for the full length of the barrel.)

Global warming will produce rising sea levels partly due to melting ice caps but also due to the expansion of water as average ocean temperatures rise. to get some idea of the size of this effect, calculate the change in length of a column of water 1.00 km high for a temperature increase of 1.00ºc. note that this calculation is only approximate because ocean warming is not uniform with depth. (answer in ×10^{-3} −3 m)
