In Thompson's cathode ray tube experiements, the electrically charged plates are created by a constant applied voltage, which maintains a constant positive charge on one plate and a constant negative charge on the other. Normal household voltage alternates 60 time per second (also called 60 cycles/sec or 60 Hz) between 110 volts and -110 volts. In the apparatus depicted attached graphics, what would we expect to see on the CRT, as configured if the charged plates are plugged into a wall socket, which would switch the charge on the plates from positive to negative 60 times per second
