Problem 2: A 75 W light bulb consumes 75 W of electricity. The following light bulbs provide the same amount of light: a 60 W incandescent bulb, a 15 W compact fluorescent bulb (CFL), or a 12 W light-emitting diode light (LED). A. Write an energy balance for a light bulb in words with each term having dimensions of energy per time. Assume that the light bulb itself is not a sink. Be specific for this problem. B. An incandescent bulb is only 2.5% efficient (i. e., only 2.5% of the energy entering the incandescent bulb produces light). Using the energy balance, calculate heat releases by all three bulbs and the efficiency of the CFL and LED bulbs. Assume steady state.
