Faraday’s Law Introduction:

Michael Faraday was an English scientist that greatly contributed to the study of electromagnetism including building one of the first electric motors. He also contributed to how induction occurs. In this simulation, we will be experimenting with the process of induction.

1. What happens as you move the north side of the magnet into the coil?

2. How does the Voltage change as you move the south side in rather than the North?

3. What happens if you move the magnet into the coil very slowly vs. very quickly. What relationship can you make between the motion of the magnet and the current produced?

4. Can you produce a current when the magnet goes up and down in the loops? Explain why and make sure you use "field lines" in your answer.

5. Next try two rings vs. four rings. What relationship can you make between the number of loops and the current produced.

6. Lastly, try putting the magnet in the loops and cli

Consider motion in one dimension. (the sign of the vector quantities is their direction indicator.) an object moves in the positive x-direction with speed 2.9 m/s for 4.5 s. it stops for 3.8 s and then moves in the negative x direction with speed 2.8 m/s for 4 s. what is the total distance traveled by the object in units of meter? enter a number with two digits behind the decimal point.
