A skier is gliding along at 3.0 m/s on horizontal, frictionless snow. He suddenly starts down a 10 incline. His speed at the bottom is 15 m/s. Assume the skier does not leave the ground or jump for the duration of their motion What is the length of the incline?
Now introduce kinetic friction to the skiers motion. What would our answer to part a) be given a coefficient of static friction of M = 0.1, while keeping everything else the same?
Using the same coefficient of kinetic friction and initial speed, what angle of incline is needed to keep the skiers speed constanta they travel down the incline?
