An electrical blow dryer consists of a solid cylindrical wire in which thermal energy comes from electrical resistance (passage of electrical current through the core of the wire). Air blows on the wire in such a way that it may be assumed that the convective heat transfer coefficient is the same on all wire surfaces. Consider the moment of interest to be when the dryer has been running for a very long time. (i) Simplify the appropriate general heat equation to give the equation that would be used to determine the temperature distribution in the system wire (draw a schematic representation of the problem and clearly state your assumptions), and (ii) In equation form, write the boundary conditions that apply. Do not attempt to solve the equations. In all cases, you can ignore radiation.
