You have a smoke detector that you are mounting on a 60 degree from horizontal sloped ceiling (that is one wickedly steep ceiling!). The smoke detector has a mass of 1.5 kg (pretty beefy!). To help you mount the detector you have the Acme patented compression spring smoke detector holder. It consists of a pole and a spring. The spring has a force constant of 5N/cm. The coefficient of static friction between the detector and the ceiling is 0.45. What is the maximum amount you can compress the spring and still hold the detector in place when you located holding the compression spring smoke detector holder vertically under the smoke detector
