Un bloque de masa m = 3 2 Kg desliza por un plano inclinado sin friccion desde una altura h = 12 m. Llega a una superficie horizontal por la cual sigue deslizando, pero esta vez existe un coeficiente de friccion cin´etica entre el bloque y la superficie con valor µk = 3 10 . Despues de recorrer una distancia horizontal L = 5 m, el bloque colisiona con una caja de masa M = 5 2 Kg, inicialmente inmovil, y queda completamente incrustado en ella. El conjunto de caja y bloque continuan deslizando por la superficie horizontal, con el mismo coeficiente de fricci´on cin´etico, una cierta distancia adicional X, hasta quedar detenidos completamente.
