. What is thermometer? On what principle is it constructed? Draw a neat and labeled diagram of an ordinary thermometer. Why do you use mercury in the thermometer? What is thermometric liquid? Name any two thermometric liquid. Write the freezing and boiling point of alcohol and mercury. What is alcohol thermometer? Draw a neat and well labelled diagram of clinical thermometer. What scales of thermometer? List out three scales of temperature. What is calibration of thermometer? How can you determine the upper and lower fixed point of water? Explain with the help of diagram If you want to go to Himalayan region, which type of thermometer do you prefer to take? Why? If you want to go to hotter region, which thermometer do you prefer to take? Why? Mention some commonly used temperature scales and establish the relationship between them. At what temperature centigrade and Fahrenheit scales have the same reading?

Refrigerant-134a flows through a carnot heat pump cycle at 0.5 kg/s. it is known that the maximum absolute temperature in the cycle is 1.1 times the minimum absolute temperature, and the net power input to the cycle is 2.5 kw. if the refrigerant changes from a saturated vapor to a saturated liquid during the heat rejection process, determine the maximum magnitude of the enthalpy of vaporization for this process in kj/kg (with 3 significant figures).
