This air being forced out causing the air pressure inside to be much lower than that on the outside. As higher air pressure always pushes, it keeps the two plungers together.

i just did an experiment like this in my science class. also the answer is yes, it will get separated because they are two opposites meaning if they are opposite they can not attract.
