Is fertilizer a living thing or non living thing?

Chemical fertilizers e.g. ammonium nitrate, nitrogen fertilizers, potassium fertilizers e.t.c are non-living, as they contain chemicals that are non-living compounds. however, bio-fertilizers contain living micro-organisms such as plant growth promoting rhizobacteria that enrich soil and make it fertile. so fertilizer contain non-living compounds or living microorganisms, depending on which kind of fetilizer is used.
