We can easily obtain the result by applying the concept of total distance, which is equal to the length of path.

So, total distance by Zamir is,

T = 2 m north + 2 m east + 4 m south + 2 m east + 4 m north + 2 m east + 3 m south + 4 m east + 4 m north = 27 meters

He ended up 3m north and 10m east of where he started.

Total distance by Talia is,

T' = 2 m north + 6 m east + 3 m south + 4 m east + 4 m north = 19 meters.
