Resistance is a measure of how well a material conducts an electric charge. would you expect to find a high or low, level of resistance in a copper wire and why?

I would expect to find that the resistance of copper wire is very low.

As I've looked around my world, I've noticed that copper is used
for just about every telephone wire, electric transmission line,
coaxial radio cable, TV cable, space heater, computer board, house
electrical outlet wire, and toaster in the world.  My highly developed
sense of logic and ability to reason tell me that if the resistance
of copper were high, then it would be a pretty silly choice for all of
these applications. 

In my particular line of work, I KNOW that electrical engineers are
a pretty sharp bunch of guys, and if copper has been their go-to
material for more than 200 years now, there must be a pretty
strong reason, and it must be copper's low resistance.
