I believe the answer is: 

-List each name on a separate piece of paper; place them all in a hat, and pick five.
(by doing this you would obtain a random sampling that would pretty much represent all demographic of the students)

-Number the names from 1 to 561 and use a random number table to produce 55 different three-digit numbers corresponding to the names selected.
