The city of jerusalem is considered one of the holiest places in the world. millions of people visit the city each year to tour and pray at its ancient shrines and buildings. the city is shared by three of the world's largest religions. although the city's tourists often respect the religious differences of the other visitors, the city has come under violent civil strife between worshipers of different religions. list the three religions that regard jerusalem as a holy city and give an example of how the city is shared by these religions.

1) Christianity: Jerusalem is seen as the 'holy city', and is the city where most of Jesus's (the son of GOD) ministry occurred. He also spent his last days there or near there, and was crucified right outside of Jerusalem

2) Judaism: Jerusalem was the capitol of Judah and Israel before the Great Diaspora, and continue to be today, as many of their great kings reigned in that city.

3) Islam: Islam conquered Jerusalem from the Jews and defeated the Christians, and claim that Mohammad was able to do most of his works at or near Jerusalem. They also claim Jerusalem as their holy city, and had built mosques there.
