Yangtze River is becoming increasingly polluted because of these two reasons:

Industrial waste

This industrial waste containing dangerous chemicals, scrap metals, plastic, oils, weeds, nitrates, and poisonous solvents has made the Yangtze River water toxic.

Domestic waste

The other major reason is the discharge of household and city garbage into the river.  

Domestic waste has made the river water really toxic causing diseases among people who drink or use this water.
