The author uses a series of adjectives and some nouns to create mental pictures that leave a strong impact on the reader. By using words or phrases such as "thunderuos", "bowling-ball size", "onslaught" (noun), "monster". "behemot" (noun), and "frozen wasteland" the author seeks to lead the reader into associating natural disasters with phenomena familiar to him/her. Not just any phenomena though, but scary, life-threatening phenomena: the sensation experienced by the reader when he/she reads "monster storm" is different from the one he/she gets when reading "grave/fierce storm". The ultimate objective of the author is to create consciousness on the reader regarding the terrible state of natural environments, and help them realize that their lives are in actual danger if this situation remains.
