In my opinion Social Media can help somebody gain confidence.

Say a person is insecure about a dish they cooked up, and they posted a picture on Instagram. And the feedback is positive they may feel more motivated to, in the future, cook more. Another example, A girl thinks her new haircut looks terrible and she posts a picture on Instagram. If people give that girl positive feedback than she will feel better about herself.
