In this practice, a person can distribute the materials in sub-parts and then learn. Distributed practice is more beneficial then massed practice. It is for long term goals. In this practice person can memorize for a long time.  

Massed practice:

Massed practice is just the opposite of Distributed practice. In this process, a person or a student memorize the materials for a short period. A student can use massed practice just to pass the exam and after the exam, student forgets all things whatever he/she has been practiced. It can be called "rote learning". it is less beneficial in learning and memorization.
