A stereotype is a broad general idea that particular individuals hold about certain other groups of people.

Through this process of stereotyping some traits are attached to particular people in relation to what classes they belong.

This is most common when we meet people for the first time due to the fact that we don't have any information about them.

If we don't know the person we will most likely use their gender, race and age to judge them.

We will then associate them with particular characteristics based on these factors. We make assumptions based on general information we have about either their race or school they went to.
