When the affordable care act was first implemented, politicians and media outlets opposed to it referred to it as "obamacare" rather than the affordable care act. in essence, they were trying to use to persuade individuals it was a bad idea.

Along with the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act, this act signified the most important governing overhaul and extension of coverage of the U.S. healthcare system. During the time this act was signed into law, the U.S. politicians, as well as the media,  opposed this law. Basically, they were using the peripheral route to influence people it was a defective idea.
