Many people believe the "common sense" view of emotions that states "we react physically and behaviorally to the emotions that we are feeling." the james-lange view, however, takes the opposite approach. it suggests that emotions don't lead to behaviors, but that behaviors lead to emotions. these opposing views remind us to consider
